Appointments & booking
Do I need an appointment?
An appointment is required for treatments such as the body scrub, foam wash, massage and beauty treatments. Please request it a few days in advance. We also recommend a booking request for hamam admission only, so that your visit can begin in a relaxed way and without waiting. Groups of 5 or more, please always book in advance, even without treatments.
How do I request an appointment?
The easiest way is our booking request form, via WhatsApp or by email to service@sultanhamam.de. Let us know the treatment or package you would like, the number of people and your preferred date and approximate time. We will get back to you within 24 hours.
Is my appointment booked once I send the request?
Not yet. Your appointment is only confirmed once a member of our team has confirmed it to you personally. Please only come to us after this confirmation.
How do I cancel or reschedule an appointment?
Write to us via WhatsApp or email and give the date and time of your existing appointment, and if you are rebooking, your new preferred date as well. We will then confirm the new appointment to you personally. We appreciate it if you let us know as early as possible.
I am running late. What should I do?
If you will arrive more than 10 minutes later than arranged, please send us a short WhatsApp message with your full name, your phone number and your appointment. We will pass this on to the responsible colleague straight away and get back to you.
Can you tell me how busy it is right now?
Unfortunately, we cannot give live occupancy information. With a booking request, we plan your visit so that it begins in a relaxed way.
Which languages do you speak?
Our team comes from many countries. We speak German, Turkish, Arabic and, depending on the staff present, other languages. We are of course also happy to help you in English.
Who do I contact with a complaint?
We are sorry to hear that. Please write to us via WhatsApp or by email to service@sultanhamam.de with your full name, your phone number and your concern. We will pass it on straight away to the responsible colleague, who will get back to you personally.
Before your visit
What should I bring to the hamam?
You are welcome to bring your own bathing essentials: towels, bath slippers and toiletries, and a bathrobe if you like. If you have booked a massage or a body scrub, please remember a bikini or swimming trunks. If you prefer not to bring anything, you can rent individual towels at reception or our towel package for 12 € with a large and a small towel, bath slippers and a peştemal. With gift vouchers, you can also add the towel package directly in the cart.
What do I wear in the hamam?
During women-only hours, you can bathe as you wish: in a swimsuit, in a bikini, wrapped in a peştemal or without swimwear. During the mixed hours on Wednesday evenings, swimwear is required. Please always place a towel underneath you in the hamam and in the sauna. During massages and body scrubs, please wear at least swimming trunks or bikini bottoms.
Do I have to wear bath slippers?
Yes. Because of the risk of slipping in the wet areas, bath slippers are required. You are welcome to bring your own. With us, bath slippers are included in the towel package for 12 €.
I have never been to a hamam. What do I need to know?
Nothing, you do not need any previous experience. On your first visit, our team will explain the process and the rooms in detail and guide you step by step through the ritual.
How much time should I plan for my visit?
Hamam admission covers 3 hours, and our packages include 3 to 5 hours depending on the package. The body scrub and foam wash take place during your bathing time. Massages and beauty treatments are added on top, with no extra charge for the longer stay: with 3 hours of admission and a 60-minute massage, you will therefore be with us for 4 hours.
Can I stay longer than booked?
Yes. You can extend your admission from 3 to 5 hours for 14 €, also directly when buying a gift voucher. If you spontaneously stay longer, an extra charge applies on site depending on the duration, which our team will be happy to tell you.
How do I prepare for the body scrub?
For the best result, ideally avoid body lotion for one to two days before your visit.
How do I get to you?
You will find Sultan Hamam Berlin at Bülowstraße 56-57, 10783 Berlin-Schöneberg, close to the U-Bahn station Bülowstraße (U2). We are easy to reach by public transport and by car. You will find a map and directions on our Contact & Directions page.
Is there parking?
We have customer parking spaces in our courtyard, but they are usually taken. Please be prepared to park in the surrounding area. Paid parking zones apply there, so parking is subject to a fee.
Your visit & treatments
What is a hamam?
A hamam is a traditional bath in the oriental and Roman tradition. Sultan Hamam Berlin is a traditional hamam with rooms fully clad in marble and combines this long bathing culture with modern wellness. Special highlights are the body scrub and the oriental foam wash, which you will only find like this in a hamam.
How do you bathe in a hamam?
Traditionally, you fill a marble basin with water at the temperature you like and pour it over your body with a hamam bowl. On site, our team will gladly show you how it works.
How does a hamam visit work?
You warm up in the hamam on the heated marble stone, the göbektaşı, and in the steam hamam. The warmth opens the pores and prepares the skin for the body scrub with the kese mitt, followed by the oriental foam wash with soft soap foam. Afterwards, your visit winds down in the sauna and lounge, with a massage or beauty treatment if you wish.
What is included in hamam admission?
Admission for 28 € includes 3 hours in our bathing areas: hamam, steam hamam, sauna, relaxation rooms and lounge. Treatments such as the body scrub, foam wash, massage or beauty treatments are not included and can be added flexibly.
How much do the body scrub and foam wash cost?
The kese body scrub costs 21 €, the oriental foam wash (sabunlama) also 21 €, and both together 41 €. These treatments require you to warm up in the hamam and steam hamam beforehand, so please always book admission as well. The Gül Package already includes the body scrub, and the Sultan Package and the Duru Package include both the body scrub and the foam wash.
How long does the body scrub take, and what is scrubbed?
The body scrub usually takes about 10 minutes. The body is scrubbed, while the face and intimate area are left out. The treatment is gentle and suitable for almost all skin types.
Where do the body scrub, foam wash and massage take place?
In dedicated treatment rooms, not on the marble stone in the middle of the hamam. Massages also take place in a separate massage room.
Which soap and oil do you use?
For the foam wash, we use classic hamam soap with olive oil, which is moisturising. Massages are given with a neutral massage oil that is suitable for people with allergies. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask us before or during the treatment.
Which massages do you offer?
The partial body massage for back, shoulders and neck is available as 25 minutes for 34 € and as 40 minutes for 50 €, the full body massage as 60 minutes for 75 € and as 80 minutes for 95 €. You will find all the details on our Massage page.
Do I need hamam admission for a massage?
No, you can also come just for a massage. If you would like to use our showers before or after the massage, we charge 5 € for this. If you like, you can combine the massage with a bathing visit, for example with admission for 28 € or with one of our packages, which already include the massage.
Which beauty treatments do you offer?
We offer the facial for 59 €, the personalised facial for 69 €, hand care for 39 € and foot care for 45 €. Beauty treatments are only available by appointment. The Duru Package already includes facial care.
Who carries out the treatments?
Women are treated exclusively by female staff, men exclusively by male staff. During women-only hours, only female staff are in the house. Treatment by a person of the other gender is not possible, even during the mixed hours on Wednesday evenings.
There are two of us. Will our treatments take place at the same time?
We plan your reservations so that guests arriving together receive their treatments close together. We often even call you at the same time, so that treatments of the same length take place almost in parallel.
Can I get the body scrub, foam wash or massage as part of a hamam package?
Yes, our packages combine admission and treatments at a better price than booking them individually: Gül (79 €) with 3 hours of admission, body scrub and a 25-minute partial body massage, Sultan (139 €) with 4 hours, body scrub, foam wash and a 60-minute full body massage, Duru (219 €) with 5 hours, body scrub, foam wash, an 80-minute full body massage and facial care. You will find all packages in our gift voucher shop.
Do you serve tea and snacks?
In the lounge, you can enjoy a variety of teas, cold drinks and a fine selection of small oriental dishes and snacks, sweet and savoury. Our lounge voucher for 5 €, 15 € or 25 € makes a lovely gift for this and can be redeemed on site during the visit.
May I bring my own food and drink?
No, consuming food and drinks brought from outside is not permitted. In the lounge, you can enjoy small dishes and a large selection of hot and cold drinks.
